The 24" inch iMac. Whoa.

Apologies to all for the recent absence of updates… my review eyes were waaay bigger than my stomach. The transition to California continues swimmingly and will be completed by next week. However, all shall be rewarded very soon as I have a new baby coming! Yes that’s right… the 24″ piece of stunning technology pictured to the right will at last be MINE! Yay! I’m so excited, I can hardly contain my emotion!!!

What does this mean: More reviews to come, and major catch-up is required. Also, the podcast supplement entitled The Orgconfuz Playlist will now become much more frequent and hopefully clearer now that I have a microphone headset. Thanks for your patience!!

NEW EPISODE of The Organized Confusion Playlist!

Filthy & Gorgeous (Kath&Kim)

Kath: What did you think marriage was gonna be, huh? Flying off in your private jet to have drinks with the Prince of Delmonico?
Kim: Well, I didn’t sign up for cooking dinner or being interested in how anyone’s day was. I’m a trophy wife!

Kath & Kim
NBC Thursday Premiere – 8:30 PM, October 9, 2008

After hearing that the UK/US ocean crossover of The IT Crowd had been shelved and replaced by the US “makeover” of hit Australian show Kath & Kim… needless to say I was bummed. However, as a firm believer of not judging something before you give it a chance, I decided to watch the premiere episode. Continue Reading Filthy & Gorgeous (Kath&Kim)…

Nostalgia for Jed Bartlett as President

Now, I am not necessarily endorsing here… just was recently reminded that a great show existed, The West Wing.

Here is something funny for fans of the show:

Justin Survived the Japanese Game Show, MAJIDE!

August 6, 2008 at 9:00 am | Posted in tv shows | 3 Comments

A quick follow-up to my I Survived a Japanese Game Show Review to congratulate Justin Wood for winning the competition. Truthfully, my money was on Donnell to win as he was a very worthy competitor. Interesting as I saw no further announcements of this win on any of the daytime talk shows today. Not even ABC’s Live with Regis and Kelly or Good Morning America… You would think that the TV station would want to promote the winner of this great show, even just to wrap-up the season. Hmmm, does that indicate lack of popularity or no second season in the works?? That would be a shame.

Sex and the City: The Movie

Mr. Big: You make me very happy.
Carrie Bradshaw: Yeah, yeah… put it in writing.

Sex and the City: The Movie
AMC Stony Brook – June 14 & June 27, 2008

As one can tell by the extreme lateness of this review, I had a little trouble harnessing my full reaction. Not for any negative reasons mind you, but because personally I am processing relationships – romantic and otherwise- a little differently these days. But when my gay best friend and my best girl friend starting crying out and shunning me over it (not seriously, of course), I figured it was finally time to finish it.

Let me begin by saying I truly love and respect the SATC series. So much so that I own that certain pink fuzzy boxset, now worn from use. These four women have had an profound effect on my life, and therefore I vibrantly joined the female masses in glee as the continuation of this story became a feature length film. As Oprah says, “Sex is back in the city and they bring it to the screen as only this fabulous foursome can.”

For those that have not seen the film (better yet, have not completed the series), I would turn away now. There really is no way to review the film without picking up where the series ended. The plot progresses, as all human lives do, into the next chapter of the four main characters’ lives. To truly appreciate the emotional spectrum (ok, now I’m really a girl), I implore you to finish the series!

I Survived a Japanese Game Show -> Lost in Translation

I Survived A Japanese Game Show
ABC premiere – June 24, 2008

Last night, I was scrolling channels for something to watch during dinner. Normally as a general concept, I avoid reality TV with the occasional exception of American Idol auditions or So You Think You Can Dance. At around 9 pm on ABC, I came across a new reality show called I Survived a Japanese Game Show. (IMDB) 10 Americans are flown to Japan (most of whom have never left the U.S.) to compete on a popular Japanese game show called MAJIDE. The winner of the competition receives $250,000. Interesting concept!

Get Smart

Siegfried: How do I know you’re not from CONTROL?
Maxwell Smart: If I were from CONTROL, you’d already be dead.
Siegfried: If you were from CONTROL, YOU’D already be dead.
Maxwell Smart: Neither of us is dead, so I’m obviously not from CONTROL.
[long pause]
Shtarker: That actually makes sense.

Get Smart
AMC Stony Brook – June 20, 2008

As a fan of Steve Carell’s work since Bruce Almighty, I looked forward to seeing his latest endeavor: the film adaptation of the classic TV Show Get Smart. Though too young to remember (or even come across reruns for) a full episode of the 1965 original series, I have gathered through pop culture references that the adventures of Agent Maxwell Smart is a parody of the Bond series, a non-British Austin Powers if you will.

And it all started with a big bang… BANG!

Leonard: At least I didn’t have to invent 26 dimensions just to make the math come out!
Sheldon: I didn’t invent them. They’re there.
Leonard: In what universe?
Sheldon: In all of them. That is the point.

The Big Bang Theory
Mondays, 8:00PM on CBS

It is in times like these that I feel I have no right to complain that there is no good shows on network TV. Inundated with reality competition shows like Are you Stupider than a 5th grader? and Dancing with the Stars (don’t even get me started on Wife Swap), its a wonder how Hollywood barely survived the programming hump from the Writer’s Guild Strike. Shows with wit, irreverence and intelligently crafted characters are few and far between, and rarely seep through the harsh censorship of mainstream networks.

Happy Arbitrary Egg-Boiling Day…

March 23, 2008 at 9:00 am | Posted in orgconfuz, tv shows | Leave a comment

No offense to those who celebrate for religious reasons. My family hasn’t celebrated Easter in a long time, much to my chagrin. I love coloring eggs!

Need another day or so on the Double B Feature, as I accidentally tripped into a Pushing Daisies marathon today. Good show. Didn’t realize it had such production value going for it. Will continue to watch when reaired.

Thanks and have a swell holiday!
