Visit the ARCHIVE Tab for a complete catalog of Orgconfuz reviews.
- Links provided to each review when title is clicked, as well as dates for reference.

I Survived A Japanese Game Show
ABC premiere - June 24, 2008
Last night, I was scrolling channels for something to watch during dinner. Normally as a general concept, I avoid reality TV with the occasional exception of American Idol auditions or So You Think You Can Dance. At around 9 pm on ABC, I came across a new reality show called I Survived a Japanese Game Show. (IMDB) 10 Americans are flown to Japan (most of whom have never left the U.S.) to compete on a popular Japanese game show called MAJIDE. The winner of the competition receives $250,000. Interesting concept!

Get Smart
June 22, 2008 at 9:00 pm | In movies, tv shows | 1 CommentSiegfried: How do I know you’re not from CONTROL?
Maxwell Smart: If I were from CONTROL, you’d already be dead.
Siegfried: If you were from CONTROL, YOU’D already be dead.
Maxwell Smart: Neither of us is dead, so I’m obviously not from CONTROL.
[long pause]
Shtarker: That actually makes sense.
Get Smart
AMC Stony Brook - June 20, 2008
As a fan of Steve Carell’s work since Bruce Almighty, I looked forward to seeing his latest endeavor: the film adaptation of the classic TV Show Get Smart. Though too young to remember (or even come across reruns for) a full episode of the 1965 original series, I have gathered through pop culture references that the adventures of Agent Maxwell Smart is a parody of the Bond series, a non-British Austin Powers if you will.

The Savages
June 8, 2008 at 9:00 am | In DVD, movies, music links | No CommentsWendy Savage: I’m Lenny Savage’s daughter in B26. He has a big red pillow; it’s missing.
Simone: Did he have his name on it?
Wendy Savage: And his room number.
Simone: What’s it look like?
Wendy Savage: Big. Red. Pillow.
The Savages
DVD - June 7, 2008
On a whim, I decided to ask my mother if she would like to see The Savages today. We collectively have enjoyed Phillip Seymour Hoffman in many roles, as well as Laura Linney and Philip Bosco, who all star as Brother, Sister and Father Savage. The film’s trailer portrays a sardonic, but playful repertoire between the siblings and their father that I thought it might be a nice family pic to see with my mom.

Filed under “H” for Toy… (Real Genius)
June 4, 2008 at 9:00 pm | In movies | No CommentsMitch: You know, um, something strange happened to me this morning…
Chris Knight: Was it a dream where you see yourself standing in sort of sun-god robes on a pyramid with a thousand naked women screaming and throwing little pickles at you?
Mitch: No…
Chris Knight: Why am I the only one who has that dream?
Real Genius
VHS - June 2, 2008
By happenstance, this film kept popping up everywhere. Once as part of a double feature midnight movie at Cinema Arts Centre, then later mentioned as one of the top movies of all time, according to a friend. I had never seen or even heard of this movie before, but apparently it has a cult like following, similar to that of Better Off Dead. Taking the repetitive occurrences as a sign for my next review, I bring you the 1985 revenge comedy, Real Genius.

Great World Of Sound
DVD - June 1, 2008
Limited release films are a real treat for me, as they usually only run in NYC. Adding the travel costs to a city-priced ticket quickly becomes a luxury that’s reserved for greater venues such as concerts or broadway shows. It is a real shame that distribution deals curtail the participation of willing film patrons. I saw the trailer for the film Great World of Sound, and thought “Hey, that looks funny. If that gets released like Little Miss Sunshine, I’ll get to see it.”
